Type 1a chemical suits are worn with the SCBA inside, offering the highest level of protection. Type 1b chemical suits are worn with the SCBA outside, providing greater maneuverability in confined spaces.
The protective clothing consists of garment with(or without) visor, replaceable gloves(EN ISO 374-1 approved) and attached boots, used in conjunction with a positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (full face mask) to provide breathable air supply independent of the ambient atmosphere worn inside( or outside) the suit.
The fluid and gas-proof zipper is placed at the back, running from left to right shoulder.
The suit must only be worn in combination with a full mask complying with EN 136 (incl. air filter) or a self-contained breathing apparatus approved according to ISO 23269-3:2011.
