Emergency Escape Breathing Device
Emergency Escape Breathing Device known as EEBD, is an open-circuit compressed air brething apparatus with a hood for escape with 15min duration.

EEBD provides personal breathing protection during escape from a compartment that has a hazardous atmosphere. Not to be used for fire fighting or when entering oxygen deficient tanks or voids, or worn by fire fighters.
Description
Introduction:
The Emergency Escape Breathing Device (EEBD) is a mandatory portable respiratory escape appliance for seagoing vessels, fully compliant with SOLAS and the FSS (Fire‑Safety Systems) Code. It supplies short‑term breathable air to help crew evacuate quickly from smoke‑filled, toxic‑gas or oxygen‑deficient hazardous compartments such as engine‑rooms during shipboard fire emergencies.
Comply with:
- ISO 23269-1:2008 Ships and marine technology-Breathing apparatus for ships-Part 1 Emergency escape breathing devices (EEBD) for shipboard use
- EN 1146:2005 Respiratory protective devices-Self-contained open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus incorporating a hood for escape-Requirements, testing, marking
- Chapter 3 of International Code for Fire Safety Systems as amended by MSC.339(91).
Tests Carried Out:
In accordance with ISO 23269-1 (2008) and EN1146 (2005).
