Ex‑proof lifebuoy light is mandatory for tankers, gas carriers, offshore facilities, flammable‑cargo barges and open‑deck survival stations in hazardous Zones 0‑2, while non‑explosion‑proof lifebuoy lights are restricted to safe‑area decks.
Ex‑proof lifebuoy light shall meet the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), in addition to complying with stringent intrinsic‑safety certification requirements for hazardous environments onboard oil tankers, offshore rigs and similar installations.
